Professionals to continue teaching in schools in Peru
LIMA – Professionals who are not titled as educators will continue to be able to teach in schools in Peru, according to the Constitutional Tribunal.

Several professionals in Peru have taken the option of working as school teachers in their area of expertise rather than seeking an academic or professional career path.
The Tribunal Constitucional (constintutional tribunal) declared today that the proposed demand of the Colegio de Profesores del Perú (Peru teachers college) against law no. 29510 which allows professionals to teach in their field of expertise, was unconstitutional.
The teachers college proposed that the norm itself was unconstitutional for contravening article 15 and 51 of the Carta Magna, which they say prohibits teaching by people who did not obtain an education degree or título pedagógico.
However, law no. 29510 exempts the requirement of an education title for professionals who teach in their areas of expertise.
