Peru and Panama – potential partners in boat building
Peru’s Marine Industrial Service (SIMA) could help Peru become Panama’s key partner in boat construction and development.
Vice president of operations at the Panama Canal, Manuel Benites, says they have verified the quality of boats built by SIMA, and has declared them to be of high quality and on par to shipyards around the world, according to an Andina news agency report.
Two barges built by SIMA were launched towards the Panama Canal in September, for the Panama Canal Authority.

Other orders are currently being built, to be delivered to the Panama Canal Authority between March and June of 2012.
Panama is not an industrial country, and the building of ships is limited. Countries with able shipyards producing quality products like SIMA in Peru are essential to form strategic partnerships with.
