Peru national surfing team takes gold at South American Beach Games 2011

LIMA – The Peruvian national surf team placed itself in the lead and took the gold in the mens open surf round at the South American Beach Games 2011 in Manta, Ecuador.

The team, captained by Cristobal de Col, showed off their skills in the singles and doubles surfing categories. They reached the finals of the mens open round after surfing over the teams of Argentina, Brazil and Venezuela.

Cristobal de Col is the 2011 World Junior Champion, and fellow team member Miguel Tudela gave one of his best performances to reach the final.

According to the official games website, the final open mens round ended as follows:

1. Cristobal de Col (Peru) – Gold

2. Santiago Muñiz (Argentina) – Silver

3. Miguel Tudela (Peru) – Bronze

4. Rafael Texeira (Brazil)
