Government promotes the consumption of fish and reduce malnutrition
In a television message for the Day of St. Peter, patron saint of fishermen, Triveño noted that Peru has the richest sea in the world and the administration of President Ollanta Humala hopes that wealth will benefit all Peruvians.
She recalled that her ministry will soon develop a national strategy for development of handicraft, which will be taken in collaboration with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
Triveño also indicated that the first census of artisanal fishing in the maritime history of the whole country will know how many sailors are there in the Peruvian coast, its economic reality, the extracted species, the situation of piers and the number of ships we have, among others.
These figures are necessary to develop appropriate policies and real, for fishermen, and these results will be announced soon, he added.
We are training the fishermen of the coast, highlands and jungle, through the Fisheries Extension Program; also been promoting the promotion and strengthening of fishermen, the fight against illegal fishing, the effective control of fishery products and the development of the acuicutura in the country.
